The Turangi Karate Club was first established in 1973 by Paul Burke under the Japan Karate Assosiation and was the head dojo for New Zealand. The club was the first in New Zealand to become part of the Traditional Shotokan Karate Federation in 2009 under the supervision of Takahashi Shunsuke Shihan and to this day remains at the centre of the TSKF in New Zealand as the headquaters for TSKFNZ
